2010 Spring Session Now Scheduling. Click Here to register online now

SPECIAL NOTICE : May 4th, 2010 - We now have enough people interested to begin a session. Our problem now is that Beth, our Training Director is going to Toronto, Canada on the 16th of this month to compete in her first of three competitions to qualify for the Paralympic games held this next time in London England. She will be back around the end of the month and we will call everyone who has registered to schedule a date to begin the session as soon as she returns. We apologize for the inconvenience but it took too long getting enough people to sign up that we ran out of time before she has to go... At any rate, we haven't forgotten anyone and let's figure a tentative start date of Sunday, June 13th at Hickey Park in Flippin / time - 3pm. There is still room for a couple more in this session. Register now to participate!

Dogs of all ages and breeds accepted. (Dogs that show agresssion towards people or other dogs may need to be enrolled in private classes)
NOTE: Private Classes are held at the shelter complex in Rae Valley Only.

The SPCA is now reserving spots for our 2010 Spring Session. Classes will be instructed by Beth Levine and Charlie Campbell, and assisted by Josh Cunha. Classes may be held either indoors at the Flippin City Community Building or at Hickey Park in Flippin, depending on weather conditions.
This is an 8 week course, 1 class each week. Each class will run approximately 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Each session is designed to hold up to 10 dogs at a time. Cost is $10 per class payable at the time of each class. North Central Arkansas Dog Club Members receive $2 off each class.

When? Sessions will begin everytime we have 10 people/dogs committed to an entire session (weekly classes / 8 weeks total). As of 3/24/10, we have room for 8 dogs and their owners in the upcoming session. Note: This may change if we do not get 10 people enrolled within a reasonable amount of time. If that is the case, we will set strict starting dates and hold classes for however many people and dogs are ready to go in order to not make anyone have to wait too long before being able to get started. If more than 10 people and dogs enroll for one session, we will run more than one session at a time so that as one class gets out for the day, the next one starts.
Days of the week and times are not set in stone. We will adjust our schedules to meet the need. We truly believe that every dog as well as dog owner, can, and will, benefit from having good to excellent Basic Obedience skills. We want you in one of our classes. We will work with all of those enrolled in each session, as much as possible, to do our best to set a beginning date, day of the week, and time of day for each class that is good for everyone enrolled in that session. We can make our own schedule fit almost any day or time. We would suggest that Sunday afternoons would be best for everyone so that there are no conflicts which would keep anyone from being able to attend each week until the full session is completed.

Instruction standards are those set down by the American Kennel Club in unison with techniques used by Beth Levine, SPCA Training Director, Charlie Campbell, SPCA President, and Cesar Millan, the Dog Whisperer. The complete training session is designed to have the dog ready to successfully pass the AKC Canine Good Citizen test at the end of the course. The normal $10 fee for CGC testing will be waived for all dogs tested after completing the 8 week session. CGC testing is not automatic, and although it is not necessary to have your dog tested at the end of the session, we recommend it and isn't is nice to have something that shows your accomplishment. Whether or not you choose to CGC test your dog, all dogs successfully mastering Basic Obedience skills taught in this class will receive an Award of Accomplishment from the SPCA.

Important! For those wishing to have Beth train their own dogs as service dogs, we would suggest that you participate in one of these sessions before you begin the Service Dog training. It is important that any dog going into Service Dog training have a good basic obedience before they can truly be dedicated to learning the more advanced tasks of becomng a Service Dog.
