The new SPCA facility being built in Rea Valley brings with it many new ideas and programs as we continue to look forward and plan on how we can better assist pet owners as well as pet lovers throughout the communities we serve. In fact, not only do we provide services to Boone, Marion, and Baxter counties on a regular basis, we have also at times helped in Searcy county and now Fulton county as well, being indeed, the only true "North Central Arkansas" facility.
The SPCA's basic mission has expanded over time to include services to pet owners in our area, as well as to the entire state of Arkansas with our own award winning Disaster Response Team. Those that have supported us from the very beginning, who remember our Critter Holler Animal Rescue days, have seen many improvements come along with the name changes to Best Friends of North Central Arkansas, the NAC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and eventually Solutions for People Created with Animals, (still the SPCA). These changes have been a natural part of our growth as our services, and indeed our influence, in our communities and in fact the state, have developed into a leading role in both animal and human resources.
We naturally take pride in our accomplishments, made possible by those good people and businesses throughout our area that have supported our efforts since our meager beginnings in 2002. Although our work was primarily that of just another animal shelter up until we re-grouped in June of 2007, our new goal of being a shelter that provided more than just caring for stray dogs, was well received by the community and our services began to expand. Because of the need for pet related - human services, we closed the animal shelter section to all but privately contracted services in June 2010, leaving us free to develop those programs which deal daily with the problems faced by pet owners in our area. We have worked hard to continue our expansion and provide even more services to pet owners who have fallen on hard times, as well as now to disabled and handicapped individuals.
Through our Intern programs and other programs developed to assist people, and programs directly helping dogs and cats while they await new forever homes and families, we feel the new SPCA facility is ripe with opportunity for both people and animals alike. Thus a new name for the complex itself, Opportunity Inc. "Making Opportunities for everyone who comes in our drive".
The SPCA is an exciting and constantly growing organization. Ask anyone who is involved in our work. We are confident you will hear only good things from those who actually know for themselves.
We hope you too will consider coming out to the facility and seeing for yourself the great things that are happening here. We are happy to provide a tour pretty much anytime and look forward to seeing and visiting with you soon!
We Guarantee whether you want to help or you need help, Opportunities abound at the SPCA!
