How much does it cost to get a Service Dog from the SPCA?

Our Service Dogs are priced entirely on what it is you will need the dog to do for you. In other words, the number of specific tasks. The basic price for the dog is $1000, which includes up to the first three tasks you may need. Each additional task you add on, cost an additional $250 to train. Depending on how far away you live from our facility, we may need to also charge for travel for your weekly training sessions once the dog is in your possession. We charge a $300 deposit (this is non-refundable) to begin training a dog specifically for you. The balance is due at the time you pick up your dog to take it home with you.

We know, we hear it too, "You get what you pay for". By this definition, we are way to cheap. Why? Two reasons: first, we have no payroll to meet. All trainers are volunteer. We can volunteer because each of us at the SPCA are on a fixed income ourselves. Most are on SSD or SSI. Because of this we truly understand what it is like to really need something but not be able to get it only because the cost is just way out of line. We guarantee our dogs, their quality, and their training. Second, the Service Dog Training / Placement program is not the only thing we do at the SPCA. As with all of our programs, it is not meant to make money but rather to provide a service to those who need it, those who could not otherwise afford to know themselves the great benefits one of these dogs can provide. We are an organization, made up of people who each understand what it is like to have disadvantages to overcome, and that have each done so in our own lives. We work hard to dispel many of the old adages. This is just another one of those.
